Methodology
An assessment-focused project aimed at developing standardized Arabic placement tests to ensure learners are assigned to appropriate levels based on their actual language proficiency.
The project followed key principles of test development—validity and reliability—with test items aligned to proficiency levels and standards, while considering learner profiles and local Arabic learning contexts in Brunei.
The work included developing assessment tools to measure multiple language components/skills (depending on the project scope): vocabulary, grammar, reading comprehension, listening comprehension, and writing/production, along with scoring procedures and reporting mechanisms to support academic decision-making.
